ST. LOUIS - Missouri State women's swimming and diving freshmen
Lindsey Hervey and
Maggie Arceneaux each earned weekly awards from the Missouri Valley Conference, the league announced Wednesday afternoon.
Hervey earned her first career MVC Freshman of the Week award as she emerged to the spotlight in last weekend's doubleheader sweep over Drury, winning two events to bring her individual win total to four.Â
She broke through the sub-five-minute mark in the 500-yard freestyle with a 4:59.52 time to get the win on Friday at Hammons Student Center Pool. She followed up her performance on Saturday at Drury University's Breech Pool with her second win in the 1,000-yard freestyle this season with a time of 10.15.04, just over two seconds back of the top conference time this season in the endurance event.

Arceneaux also won her first career MVC Diver of the Week award and is the first Bear to earn the distinction this season. She took both the 1-meter (239.55) and 3-meter (220.42) wins Friday at Breech Pool on Drury's campus. She bested her score on Saturday at Hammons Student Center Pool at Missouri State in the 1-meter dive with a 247.42, the best score by a Bear in the event this season.
Missouri State swimming & diving continues competition this weekend with another doubleheader in Chicago. The Bears head to Flames Natatorium on Friday for dual meets against UIC and Evansville. Missouri State closes out its final meet before the conference championships with the UIC/NCC Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 27.
