Paradise Jam Announces Lineup for 2023 Virgin Islands Event

ST. THOMAS, UNITED STATES VIRGIN ISLANDS — The annual U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam men's basketball tournament has announced the field for the 23rd annual event, which will include Missouri State and takes place Nov. 17-20 at the University of Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center. 

The eight-team men's field for 2023 will begin Friday, Nov. 17. Missouri State and Florida Gulf Coast will tangle at 7 p.m. (Central) on the opening night. It will mark the first-ever meeting between the clubs in men's basketball. 

Other first-round matchup on Nov. 17 are: Norfolk State vs. Fordham, Abilene Christian vs. San Jose State, and Hampton vs. Kent State. The Bears are matched with the Hampton and Kent State on the lower side of the bracket.

The consolation bracket will be played Saturday, Nov. 18 with day-one winners advancing to the semifinals on Sunday, Nov. 19. The tournament will conclude, Monday, Nov. 20 with championship, third-place, fifth-place and seventh-place games.

The field includes A-10 runners-up Fordham, which was 25-8 last season, while Kent State was 28-7 after a MAC Tournament title and NCAA appearance. San Jose State (CBI) and Norfolk State were also 20-game winners a year ago.

Fellow MVC program Drake won the 2022 U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam.
