May 02, 2023

SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State men's basketball head coach Dana Ford announced early Tuesday the signing of 6-foot-8, 185-pound forward Tyler Bey (pronounced BAY) to the Bears program.

Bey is originally from Newark, N.J., and played his prep year at Overtime Elite in Atlanta where he earned a four-star ranking from ESPN and three-star accreditation by Rivals, 247 Sports and On3.com. ESPN also ranks him as one of the top 30 small forwards in the country in the class of 2023, while Rivals ranks him 138th overall in this year's senior class and 247 ranks him 153rd.

He was part of an Overtime Elite squad that won the Elite finals. Bey's breakout game for the season came on on Jan. 7, where he erupted for 29 points, 8 rebounds and 8 dunks in league play. He spent the 2021-22 season at Fairfax High School in Los Angeles as part of a city championship team. He has also played for the NY Rens and Oakland Soldiers on the summer circuit.

As an incoming freshman at Missouri State, Bey will have four years of eligibility when he joins the Bears for coach Dana Ford's sixth season at the helm.

Ford on Bey
"Tyler has tremendous upside. He's a multi-talented hybrid player on both ends of the floor. He is full of potential and has a very bright future ahead of him."
