
Lady Bears to Face Nebraska in WNIT Opening Round

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Missouri State women's basketball (20-11) will take on the University of Nebraska (16-14) in the opening round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament, the organization announced today.

The Lady Bears and Cornhuskers will face off on Wednesday, March 15 at 6 p.m. CT in Lincoln, Neb.

This marks MSU's ninth WNIT appearance in program history. In its previous eight appearances in the tournament, Missouri State owns an 11-7 overall record and was crowned the champion of the WNIT in 2005. This will be MSU's first time in the WNIT field since 2018.

Missouri State has appeared in a postseason tournament (NCAA or WNIT) in eight consecutive seasons, excluding the 2019-20 Covid season.

The Lady Bears own a 20-11 record on the season, as they secured their sixth consecutive 20-win season, and finished fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference regular season standings with a 14-6 conference ledger. MSU defeated Bradley in the opening round of the MVC Tournament, before falling to tournament champion and NCAA Tournament automatic bid Drake in the quarterfinals.

Nebraska is 16-14 on the season and owned an 8-10 record in Big Ten play. The Cornhuskers fell to Michigan State in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament.
