February 08, 2023

SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State women's basketball head coach Beth Cunningham announced today that Ifunanya Nwachukwu has entered the transfer portal and is parting ways with the Lady Bears program.

"We respect Ifunanya's decision to enter her name in the transfer portal, and we wish her the best in her future endeavors and thank her for her contributions to the Lady Bear program," said Cunningham.

Nwachukwu played in 45 games for the Lady Bears over the last two seasons, including one career start. She averaged 2.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game in those 45 contests, while shooting 50 percent (46-for-92) from the field.

Originally from Lagos, Nigeria, Nwachukwu came to Missouri State after spending two seasons at Chipola College in Marianna, Fla.

Missouri State is 14-7 on the season and currently sits in third place in the Missouri Valley Conference standings with a 9-3 conference ledger. The Lady Bears hit the road later this week as the Lady Bears travel to take on Bradley on Friday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m., before closing the road trip with a matchup at Illinois State on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 1 p.m.
