SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State fans will get their first glimpse of the 2023-24 Bears and Lady Bears basketball teams on Homecoming morning when the teams host a sneak preview event, beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Great Southern Bank Arena.
 
The free event is open to the public and will feature the Lady Bears (10 a.m.) and Bears (11 a.m.) each conducting intrasquad drills for Missouri State fans. Doors open at 9:45 a.m.
 
Due to street closures associated with the homecoming parade, fans are encouraged to enter campus from the west to access the arena for the basketball event.
 
The Lady Bears return six players from last year's squad that went 20-12 overall and 14-6 in the MVC, while welcoming in eight newcomers. Missouri State is coming off its eighth consecutive postseason appearance following a WNIT berth last season in head coach Beth Cunningham's first year at the helm of the program, as she became just the second coach in program history to record at least 20 wins in her debut season.  

The Bears return three starters and ten squad members in all from a 17-15 squad that won 12 games in the Missouri Valley Conference last winter for the third straight season. Coach Dana Ford enters his sixth season at the helm as one of just two Valley coaches to secure MVC Tournament victories each of the last four seasons.
