SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State women's basketball head coach Beth Cunningham announced today the signing of transfer Kennedy Taylor. Taylor has three years of eligibility remaining.
Â
Taylor comes to Springfield after spending her freshman season at the University of Colorado. In her freshman campaign, Taylor appeared in eight games, on a veteran squad that featured eight juniors and seniors, as the Buffaloes went 22-9 and made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Â
Coming out of high school, Taylor was ranked as the No. 2 player coming out of Kansas by Prepgirlshoops.com. She garnered multiple first-team all-state selections and was named the 2021 Sports in Kansas 6A Player of the Year.
Â
As a senior, Taylor averaged 14.9 points and 11 rebounds per game. She helped lead Shawnee Mission NW to the school's first basketball state title, after going a perfect 23-0. Taylor set the single-game school record for scoring, in boys or girls basketball, with 33 points and was also nominated for Gatorade Player of the Year.
Â
Cunningham on Taylor:
"I am really excited about Kennedy's potential here in our program. She fills a need for us with her inside presence and physicality, and she will fit our style of play. We are thrilled to have Kennedy here at Missouri State!"
