DURANT, Okla. – In its third-straight road contest the Missouri State women's tennis team dropped its match to Tarleton State University, 4-0, here Tuesday afternoon.
Similarly, to their past several matches, the Bears were down a doubles pair and singles player and faced off against Tarleton (11-3) with five available players. In part to the early deficit, MSU (0-10) fell in doubles as Juliette Robinson and Kate Miley were defeated 6-1 in Flight No. 2 by Jemi Aguilar and Elsa Boisson. In Flight No 1., Mary Houston and Mara Presot also played their match to completion, suffering a 6-2 loss to Deniza Marcinkevica and Martha Makantasi.
In singles play, Houston was the first to finish for MSU, dropping a 6-1, 6-3 match to Makantasi in Flight No. 2. In flight No. 4, Tarleton State's Celia Vaudiau earned the win, due to Presot's withdrawal. The remaining matches also went unfinished as the Texans earned the 4-0 clinch.
"We will continue to work and compete and have another opportunity to do so tomorrow against a very good Divison II team in Southeastern Oklahoma," said head coach Randall Knox.
The Bears will be back in action Wednesday morning in their second and final match of the week as they take on Southeastern Oklahoma State University at 10 a.m. The match will take place at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
