
Beach Bears Suffer Setbacks to Stephen F. Austin and Central Arkansas

CONWAY, Ark. – The Missouri State Beach Volleyball team dropped a pair of 3-2 duals to Stephen F. Austin and Central Arkansas on Friday afternoon.

"We continue to develop our offense and unfortunately had more errors than our opponents today," head coach Gretchen Hand said. "We will continue to learn, improve and buy into the process."

In the opening dual against Stephen F. Austin, the Bears grabbed wins at the No. 2 and 5 spots.

Grace Cook and Chloe Tome swept the SFA duo of Madison Hall and Madison Horton (21-6, 21-18) in the No. 2 spot. In the No. 5 flight, Parker McAllen and Olivia Rattler continued their success with a hard-fought three-set win over Tobi Shermann and Callie Neumann (21-15, 17-21, 15-10)

Madison Bennett and Olivia Unnasch swept Tylar Garrett and Mya Young (21-8, 21-16) in the No. 1 match. The No. 3 duo of Brooke Plessner and Kaeli Kristensen went the distance with Suzana Andrade and Kelly Johnson before falling in the third set (21-16, 15-21, 15-11).

The Lady Jacks also took the No. 4 match as Sadie Shipman and Rylee Erwin swept Becca Bach and Grayson Hall (21-18, 21-16).

The Missouri State No. 2 and 5 pairs stepped up again to grab both wins during the nightcap with Central Arkansas.

The No. 2 pair of Cook and Tome dispatched Julia Oravec and Kelsie Sager (21-15, 21-9) to pick up their second sweep of the day and 15th victory of the season. McAllen and Rattler improved in 12-4 in the No. 5 flight by sweeping Anna Collins and Ryenne Gepford (21-17, 21-14).

In the No. 1 position, Faith Hasness and Carol Barbosa topped Chloe Filipski and Garrett, 21-9 and 21-10. Addison Crider and Abby Fowler were swept in the No. 3 flight by Bria Garmon and Evelyn Griffith (21-18, 21-7).

In the No. 4 spot, newcomers Kristensen and Hall fell to Payton Sproule and Kayla Cook, 21-15 and 21-12.
