BOULDER CITY, Nev. -- The Missouri State women's golfers are tied for fifth place with one round to play at the Jackrabbit Invitational at Boulder Creek Golf Club. The Bears shot 297-293--590 on Monday's (Mar. 14) 36-hole day, getting solid play up and down the lineup with four players in the top 30 in the 90-player field.
Senior Brooke Newell led the way for MSU, firing 70-76--146, placing her in a tie for 13th place, while sophomore Kayla Pfitzner was just behind in 20th after posting 73-75--148. Senior Arielle Keating carded 77-72--149 and is tied for 26th, with junior Johanna Wollenhaupt just a shot back and tied for 29th with 77-73--150. Senior Abby Cavaiani struggled in the morning round with 85, but rebounded with a 73 for a 158 total and is tied for 61st.
Rutgers has the team lead with a round to go after posting 297-279--576, while host South Dakota State is three back with 579, and Middle Tennessee two more back in third at 581. Little Rock is fourth with 587, then the Bears and Oklahoma City are tied for fifth, with Chattanooga (597), Farleigh Dickinson (607), North Dakota (613) and Bradley (621) rounding out the top 10 in the 16-team field.
Tuesday's final round is scheduled for an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
