Bears Wrap up XC Season at Midwest Regional

Columbia, Mo. – The Missouri State cross country team wrapped up its 2022 campaign Friday morning, finishing 29th at the NCAA Midwest regional here, where the University of Missouri served as the meet host. Â
MSU competed against 32 teams in the team's final meet of the season, racing at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course for the second time this year after opening the year there on Sept. 1.  Â
Edna Dar led the Bears' seven competitors at the regional, finishing the 6-kilometer race with a time of 22:03.1. Claudrice McKoy, who led the team at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships two weeks ago, finished second on the team, racing a time of 22:55.1. Â
"I liked the way we battled early in the race," said head coach Jordan Fife. "We got out well, but we just didn't hold our spots like we needed to."Â Â
Shelby Palmer finished three spots behind McKoy on Friday morning, ending the day in 176th place out of the competitive field (22:57.4). Three spots behind Palmer, Margo Nea recorded a time of 23:02.4.  Â
Natalie Clayton, Mary Margaret Harris and Ashley Rolewicz rounded out the seven racers for the Bears, clocking respective times of 23:12.7, 23:23.0 and 25:38.8. Â
Oklahoma State was the meet champion with 58 points, while Northwestern (88), Bradley (99), Iowa State (115) and Minnesota (137) rounded out the top five. Illinois' Olivia Howell was the individual meet champion at the regional racing a time of 20:02.9.Â
