ST. LOUIS – Missouri State quarterback Jason Shelley highlights a list of five Bears announced Tuesday (Nov. 30) as part of the Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Newcomer Team.
 
Shelley was announced last week as the MVFC Newcomer of the Year and is just the third Bear, along with Jason Cannon (1995) and Antoine Wilkinson (2009), to earn this prestigious conference honor.
 
Other Missouri State honorees on the 24-man MVFC All-Newcomer Team are: WR Tyrone Scott (Jr., Estill, S.C.), WR Xavier Lane (Sr., Montgomery, Ala.), DL Allen Love (Jr., Birmingham, Ala.) and DL Siale Suliafu (Ontario, Calif.).
 
With five selections, Missouri State is the most-represented school on this year's All-Newcomer Team list. Youngstown State quarterback Demeatric Crenshaw was named MVFC Freshman of the Year.
 
Shelley, who was also named MVFC Offensive Player of the Year, and Scott were announced Monday as All-MVFC first-team selections with Lane being honored with All-MVFC honorable mention accolades.

Set school-record for season receptions (66), receiving yards (1,110), receiving touchdowns (8) and 100-yard receiving games (6) … Ranks high in FCS national ratings as follows: 5th in receiving yards (1,110)*); 10th in receiving yards per game (92.5*); 24th in receiving touchdowns (8); 32nd in receptions per game (5.5); and 46th in yards per reception (16.8). … Had 18 receptions this season of 20 or more yards … Had 8 catches for 174 yards at Dixie State (11/20/21) … Posted 147 yards vs. North Dakota on 10 catches with a TD (10/30/21) … Had 6 receptions for 104 yards at NDSU (10/23/21) … Recorded 3 catches for 106 yards, 2 TD vs. Indiana State (10/16/21) … Logged 8 catches, 121 yards, 2 TDs at Youngstown State (10/9/21) … Transfer from Central Michigan.

Had 56 receptions for 784 yards and 3 touchdowns this season … Ranked 34^th nationally in receiving yards and 41^st in receiving yards per game (71.3) … Also posted 5.1 receptions per game, which ranks 44^th nationally … Named MVFC Offensive Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week on 9/12/21 after posting 9 receptions for 148 yards and game-winning touchdown vs. Central Arkansas … Produced season-high 10 catches for 114 yards at Youngstown State (10/9/21) … Had 13 pass receptions of 20 or more yards this season … Transfer from Western Kentucky.
 
DL Allen Love, RSo., Birmingham (Ala.) Huffman High, Mississippi State
Transfer from Mississippi State started the final 5 games of the season and saw action in all 12 contests …. Recorded 13 total tackles in his first season in Springfield … Logged a pass break-up at FBS No. 9 Oklahoma State (9/4/21) … Had a season-high 3 tackles at Youngstown State (10/9/21) … Was a starter in Bears' NCAA Playoff game vs. UT Martin (11/27/21) with a tackle, while helping limit the Skyhawks to just 2.5 yards per carry on the ground.
 
DL Siale Suliafu, Fr., Ontario (Calif.) St. Bernard High
An athletic defensive lineman who has also excelled on special teams, kickoff returns and time at fullback … Recorded 8 total tackles on the season, including two key tackles at No. 7 Southern Illinois (11/6/21) and two at Dixie State (11/20/21) … Had a 10-yard kickoff return in homecoming win over Indiana State (10/16/21) ... True freshman also racked up 2.0 tackles for loss and a sack in his first collegiate season.
