ST. LOUIS – Missouri State junior
Tulio Da Silva (Jr., Formiga, Brazil) has been named to the District 16 First Team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), the organization announced Thursday afternoon.

Da Silva was named Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Year and earned All-MVC first-team distinction. He was also on the MVC All-Newcomer Team pick after finishing fourth in the MVC Larry Bird Player of the Year Award voting.

He led the Bears this season with 14.3 points and 7.4 rebounds per game while converting 55.4 percent of his field goal attempts. He led the Bears in scoring 10 games this season and in rebounding 18 times. He has also scored in double figures in 22 of 27 games he played this season.

Joining Da Silva on the NABC District 16 first team are Drake's Nick McGlynn, Illinois State's Phil Fayne, and teammates Marques Townes and Cameron Krutwig from Loyola.
Da Silva was a two-time MVC Player of the Week (Jan. 14 and Feb. 18) and also won MVC Newcomer of the Week the same two weeks. Since 2010, the Bears have had four previous NABC first-team selections -- Kyle Weems (2011, 2012) and
Alize Johnson (2017 and 2018).

Dana Ford's Bears finished the 2018-19 season with a 16-16 overall record and tied for third in the MVC with a 10-8 conference record.
