Reynaud Returns to Springfield to Host Wynn Celebration

SPRINGFIELD -- Dr. Cecile Reynaud will return to Missouri State University on Sunday to serve as the host for the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn life celebration event at Hammons Student Center.  
 
Reynaud attended Missouri State from 1971-75 where she earned her undergraduate degree and played volleyball for the Bears under Wynn and Linda Dollar. She was also a member of the field hockey team at MSU and was inducted into the MSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1983. She was later honored as a Bear of Distinction in 2016.
 
She went on to become the head volleyball coach at Florida State from 1976 to 2001, earning her master's degree in 1978 and her Ph.D. in 1998 from FSU. She led the Seminoles program to more than 635 victories over 26 years. At the time of her retirement, she was just one of eight active coaches to register more than 600 wins. During her time at FSU, she earned four conference coach of the year awards, seven conference championships, and 10 trips to the NCAA Tournament. She was inducted into the FSU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009
 
Outside of the collegiate realm, Reynaud served as an assistant volleyball coach for the World University Games in Canada in 1983, and went on to coach the United States Junior National Team. In 1996, she held the honorable position of Deputy Competition Manager for the Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta. Additionally, she served on both the USA Volleyball and American Volleyball Coaches Association Board of Directors and served a term as the AVCA President.
 
In 1989, Reynaud received the USA Volleyball George J. Fischer Award for her contributions to the sport of volleyball and took home the AVCA South Region Coach of the Year honor the same year. Following her retirement from at FSU, she was honored in 2016 with the "Friar Award," USA Volleyball's highest accolade. She was inducted into the AVCA Hall of Fame in 2017.
 
The author of several instructional books and videos on volleyball, she currently serves as president for WeCOACH, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving female coaches. She is also on the Side-Out Foundation Board, dedicated to fundraising for breast cancer research. She is also on the FSU Varsity Club Board, the FSU Athletic Recognitions Committee and is a television color analyst for college volleyball matches around the country.
 
Celebrating the Life, Leadership and Legacy of Dr. Mary Jo Wynn will take place Sunday at Hammons Student Center from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.  Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and reception with refreshments begins at 11 a.m. Parking available in Lot 20 and BearPark South garage.
