August 23, 2018

SPRINGFIELD -- Former Missouri State Lady Bear Aubrey Buckley will begin her professional career next month after signing a contract to play for SISU Basketball in Gentofte, Denmark.

"I am truly blessed to have this opportunity to continue doing what I love every day in such an amazing country," Buckley said. "I have dreamed about the day I would sign a professional contract since I was in third grade, and to see my dreams come true is completely breathtaking and one of the best moments of my life!"

Buckley reports to her new club, located in suburban Copenhagen, in early September, where she will live with a host family that includes a daughter who plays for the same organization. Her first professional season begins Oct. 13 against Aabyhoj. SISU has a strong history of success, including five Danish Dameligaen championships in the last decade.

A Springfield native who concluded her MSU career in March, the 6-foot-2 forward started 104 of her 108 games in the maroon and white, finishing with 838 points and 502 boards. She tallied six career double-doubles, and ranks among the top 15 in school history in free throws made and attempted.

Buckley started every game for the Lady Bears as a senior, earning team MVP and defensive player of the honors after averaging 10.4 points and 6.2 rebounds while leading the Missouri Valley Conference in free throw makes and attempts. She drew 28 charges in 33 games, and nabbed 44 steals as the only player to rank in the MVC's top 12 in scoring, rebounds and steals in league games.
