WATERLOO, Iowa -- Missouri State rallied from a 2-0 deficit at UNI Saturday afternoon for a 5-2 Missouri Valley Conference victory over the Panthers at Byrnes Park Tennis Center.
It was all Missouri State (6-11, 1-1 MVC) after UNI (8-5, 1-1) took the doubles point and the first completed singles match, as the Bears won the last five singles contests to even their league record
"This is a great team effort today," head coach
Mallory Weber remarked after the win. "I couldn't be more proud of how we came together after a tough doubles point."
Abbey Belote put Missouri State on the board with a 6-4, 6-0 win at the No. 6 spot, and MSU's final four singles wins took either a tie-break victory or three sets to attain.Â
Phoebe Boeschen evened the match at 2-2 with her straight-set win in the fifth flight,
Fati Khamissi won at No. 2 singles after a lengthy tie-break in the second set, freshman
Alye Darter clinched the match with her eighth win of the year at the No. 1 spot, and
Anelisse Torrico Moreno closed with a three-set win in the third flight.
The Bears visit Drake (8-7, 0-2) at 11 a.m. Sunday.
