NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Missouri State tennis team was unable to capitalize on a short-handed Lipscomb squad Thursday afternoon in a 4-2 loss to the Lady Bisons at Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center.
Lipscomb (4-10) fielded two doubles pairs and five singles participants, but jumped out to an early lead by winning both doubles matches.
"This is a tough loss today," said MSU head coach
Mallory Weber. "We put ourselves in position to win this match, but didn't execute in key moments. We are looking forward to another opportunity on Sunday."
Sophomore
Phoebe Boeschen picked up the lone singles win for the Bears (4-10), topping Jaclyn Findlay in straight sets at the No. 5 spot, 6-3, 6-0. Lipscomb won at the top three singles positions, while the No. 4 singles match was suspended midway through the third set when the Lady Bisons clinched the match.
Missouri State takes on Western Illinois at 1 p.m. Sunday in Edwardsville, Ill.
