Tyonna Snow was honored Monday as the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week in women's basketball, the league office announced. It's the first MVC Player of the Week award for Snow in her career.
Snow shot 54 percent overall and averaged 17.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 3.0 assists last week as the Lady Bears defeated UNI and Drake to move into sole possession of third place in the league standings.
The junior from Blue Springs, Mo., made a career-high 11 field goals and scored 25 points on Friday, adding five boards, four steals and two assists against the Panthers. Sunday, Snow nabbed five steals to go with 10 points, five rebounds and four assists. She also blocked a pair of shots against DU, and went 1-for-3 from beyond the arc in each contest.
Missouri State scored a total of 15 points off Snow's nine steals, and she passed the 900-point mark in career scoring to jump to 27th in MSU history with 919 points.
Missouri State (14-13, 11-5) heads to the Hoosier State this weekend to close the regular season, playing Indiana State (17-10, 7-9) at 6 p.m. Thursday and Evansville (11-16, 6-10) at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Lady Bears will play their first MVC Tournament game on Friday, March 13, with time and opponent yet to be determined.
