Postgame Quotes vs. Northern Iowa

Nov. 14, 2015

Recap | Final Stats

Offensive coordinator Mario Verdusco
Opening statement...
"Well obviousky disappointing when you considser our practicing this week. we had a great week of oppractice. hnothing of what they did was a suprising to say the least."

Defensive coordinator Marcus Yokeley
Opening statement...
"Definitely defensively our best week of practice. Our seniors had a great pracitce. We knew we would have a tough task and the quarterback gave us some issues. He's a dynamic football player. We have to be willing to adjust quicker as defensive coaches."

Yokeley on UNI's quarterback...
"We had him acocunted for. The issue we had was maybe who we had responsible for him. To be honest, he got everybody from our team at one point or another. I think we were slightly more successful when we had the linebackers on him."

Yokeley on decision making...
On third down conversions, UNI was six for 16 so they didn't get everything. There were things we did really really well on third downs. If he (UNI's quarterback) didn't feel his receivers were open then he used his God-given talent and ran around a little bit."

Verdusco on offensive struggle because of UNI's defense...
There wasn't anything they did that was special that we didnt know what was happening. They play hard and there is no quitting. They made some plays and we didnt make enough."

Ryan Heaston
On UNI's defense...
"They just did a great job doing their job and playing the gaps. Their defense is pretty good."

Eric Christophel
On locker room environment after the game...
"You know it's never fun when you lose a game. It's kind of like a funeral in there. With it being senior day, this is the last time the rest of us play in Plaster it hurts a little bit more."

On MSU's offense on long passes and momentum...
"That's the goal. We want to push the ball down the field. We stuck to our game plan and we took some shots."

On motivation for rest of season...
"We go back to the building blocks. It's a team game, it's not about yourself. You gotta look to your left and your right who is counting on you. That's the only motivation we need."

Christian Hoffmann
On UNI's quarterback...
He was a good player. He was very athletic obviously. There were times we didn't do our job on defense and he got free. We just have to use better fundamentals. We haven't really faced a guy like him all season."
