SPRINGFIELD - Missouri State University head coach Paul Lusk announced Friday that junior guard Marcus Marshall (St. Paul, Minn.) has asked for his release and will seek a transfer at the end of the current academic semester.
Marshall was suspended on Wednesday for what Lusk termed conduct detrimental to the team. He noted that Marshall's decision came this afternoon.
"Marcus is a good kid who is trying to find his way, and we wish him the best," Lusk said. "This is a mutual decision that will be the best thing moving forward for our program and for him."
Lusk also noted that Marshall plans to finish out the current semester at Missouri State and will likely transfer in May.
He was averaging 19.5 points per game in 14 appearances for the Bears this season which ranked second in the Missouri Valley Conference.
