SPRINGFIELD -- Basketball season is just around the corner, and the Missouri State women's basketball program has a number of events scheduled in October and throughout the year to get fans excited for the upcoming season.

Lady Bear Breakfasts

Missouri State Lady Bears Breakfasts will continue at a new location this year and begin Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Village Inn (2036 S. Glenstone). Attendees may order off a special menu at a cost of $8 per person, and the public is invited to attend. Additional dates include November 11, December 9, January 13, February 10 and March 10. Each breakfast begins at 7 a.m., and weather cancellations will be determined based on MSU's decision to hold or cancel classes.

Intrasquad Scrimmage

The season's first chance to see the Lady Bears in action on the court will be Oct. 18 at 10 a.m. inside McDonald Arena. Both the men's and women's teams will conduct a 30-minute scrimmage in the historic building prior to MSU's Homecoming football game at 2 p.m. that afternoon. The $5 adult admission to the scrimmage will benefit the Missouri State University College of Arts and Letters' Master Class Series, and students with a valid BearPass card and all children 12 and under will be admitted free. Both teams will meet fans, sign autographs and distribute schedule cards and posters after the scrimmages.

Potluck Tailgate

The Lady Bears will host a tailgate at Bearfest Village prior to the MSU football team's Nov. 8 game against Southern Illinois. Tickets to the game are included as Lady Bear fans are encouraged to bring a dish to the women's basketball tent and enjoy the festivities from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Please RSVP by Nov. 6.

Bus Trips

MSU is offering six opportunities this season for fans to travel to Lady Bear road games, with bus trips to Memphis (Nov. 14), UALR (Nov. 18), Oklahoma State (Nov. 22), Oral Roberts (Nov. 24), Missouri (Dec. 30 in Kansas City) and Wichita State (Feb. 8) on the schedule. The cost (which varies by trip) includes bus fare and one game ticket. Meals are not included in the price. A minimum of 50 passengers is required to make each trip, which leaves from the Missouri State Park n Ride at the intersection of Cherry Street and Holland Avenue before each game and returns that same day.
