SPRINGFIELD - Missouri State head coach Paul Lusk announced late Monday (Dec. 29) that freshman forward Robin Thompson (St. Louis, Mo.) will miss the remainder of the season after an on-court ankle injury suffered at Southeast Missouri State on Dec. 13.
Thompson, who played just one minute at SEMO before the injury to his right ankle, underwent an MRI upon his return to campus this week to determine why the injury was not healing. The scan revealed an osteochondral lesion of the talus bone (foot), which will necessitate him missing the remainder of the 2014-15 campaign.
"Robin gave us a boost earlier this season when we had some key injuries to other players," Lusk said. "Now, we'll have to work around losing him for the rest of the year and plan accordingly for his future. Unfortunately, this is one of those type of injuries that will necessitate him missing an extended period."
Thompson played 61 minutes in eight appearances in the non-conference portion of the schedule for the Bears, scoring 13 total points, including 11 against Avila on Nov. 19. He also secured 9 rebounds and contributed 3 assists while starting three times.
