
Fruendt Named MVC Newcomer of the Week

St. LOUIS - Missouri State freshman guard Liza Fruendt was honored as the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week in women's basketball, the league announced Monday (Nov. 24) afternoon.
Fruendt remained the MVC's top-scoring freshman by averaging 12.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in two games last week. Tuesday at UALR, Fruendt scored 14 points on 6-for-11 shooting with three assists for the Lady Bears.
Saturday at 19th-ranked Oklahoma State, the Batavia, Ill., native scored a team-high 11 points while grabbing four rebounds and handing out two assists. Fruendt is the first MSU freshman to score in double figures in her first three career games since Jackie Stiles in 1997.
The Lady Bears visit Oral Roberts (1-2) at 7 p.m. Monday.
