Rasnake Named MSU Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning

Nov. 17, 2014

SPRINGFIELD - Christina Rasnake, who spent the last two seasons at Dartmouth, has been named assistant director of strength and conditioning at Missouri State, director Athletics Kyle Moats announced Monday.

Rasnake, who began her duties Nov. 14, arrives at Missouri State with two-and-a-half years of experience at the Division-I level in strength and conditioning after also spending a semester as assistant strength and conditioning coach at La Salle in 2007.

Jeremiah Frey, who was recently promoted to director of strength and conditioning at Missouri State, is pleased to be adding Rasnake to his staff.

"We are excited to bring Christina into the Missouri State athletics family," he said. "Her background aligns itself well with the athletic department's mission and our goals as a strength staff with the development of our student-athletes."

At Dartmouth since July 2012, Rasnake administered and developed comprehensive strength and conditioning plans for 13 men's and women's programs at the Ivy League school, including working directly with the two-time national champion sailing team, among others.

Rasnake also provided player profiles to individual student-athletes to track their development, while creating U.S. Olympic Team programs for various Big Green athletes.

"I am thrilled to be joining the Missouri State University family," Rasnake said. "I look forward to working with such motivated student-athletes and contributing to the athletic department."

She earned a master's degree at Bloomsburg in 2014, working first as a graduate assistant and then as the head strength and conditioning coach. Rasnake was responsible for nine sports, including men's basketball, and supervised a staff of interns and student workers for the Huskies.

Rasnake interned as a sports performance coach at Velocity Sports Performance in Cherry Hill, N.J., in 2006 and was also a student strength and conditioning coach at Lock Haven in 2005-06, where she earned her bachelor's degree.

Rasnake, who played three seasons (2002-04) of field hockey for the Bald Eagles, is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators. She is a certified strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and holds Level 1 and 2 certifications in Functional Movement Systems.

Frey is in his fifth year on the MSU strength and conditioning staff. He spent four years as assistant director before replacing Terry Sauerbry in the director's role on Sept. 15. Before his tenure at Missouri State, Frey spent four years at Cornell College as the strength and conditioning coordinator overseeing the Rams' 19-sport athletics program.

Rasnake's hire is contingent upon formal approval by the Missouri State Board of Governors at its next scheduled meeting, Dec. 12.
