SPRINGFIELD -- The nationally-recognized Missouri State University cheer team is looking for team-oriented men and women to join the squad for the 2012-13 school year.

The annual tryout process begins with a pair of upcoming cheer clinics at Hammons Student Center, March 31 and April 14, followed by a mandatory tryout clinic for all tryout participants on Friday, April 20. The official tryout date is Saturday, April 20.

The cost of each four-hour clinic is $20. The March 31 and April 14 clinics start at Noon, while the April 20 clinic begins at 4 p.m. Tryouts will begin at 9 a.m. on April 21. All events take place at Hammons Student Center.

All clinics require a cheer tryout release form (due at the first clinic you attend), photocopy of a valid health insurance card, and a current physical signed by a physician and clearing the participant to participate in cheer, stunting, tumbling, running and strenuous activity.

The Missouri State cheerleaders have finished third nationally at the UCA/UDA National Championships the last four years. Team members receive a stipend each semester, cheer for home events and travel to select road games for basketball and football.
