St. LOUIS -- Missouri State senior guard Casey Garrison won her 13th career Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week award in women's basketball Monday afternoon, it was announced by the league office.
The normally right-handed shooting Garrison shot exclusively with her left hand this week thanks to a thumb sprain and averaged 18.5 points on 61 percent shooting in two wins. She averaged 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals while adding 67 percent shooting from three-point land and 83 percent from the free throw line.
Friday, the Bolivar, Mo., native shot 8-for-10 from the field and 3-for-4 from three on the way to 20 points, eight rebounds and four assists against Evansville. Sunday, Garrison scored 17 points with four rebounds, four assists, five steals and two blocks versus Southern Illinois.
The Lady Bears (18-6, 11-3) make their final road trip of the regular season this week, beginning with a 6:05 p.m. Friday game at Indiana State (12-14, 6-8) before a showdown with Illinois State (15-10, 10-4) at 2:05 p.m. Sunday.
