The Missouri State Lady Bears (13-6, 6-3 Missouri Valley Conference) start their second time through the league schedule this week with two road games, beginning with a 7:05 pm. Thursday contest at Drake (11-9, 5-4) before a 4:05 p.m. Saturday game at Creighton (11-9, 5-3).
In MSU's first meeting with Drake, the Lady Bears came away with a 78-46 win on Jan. 7 at JQH Arena. Jaleshia Roberson scored 22 points and MSU shot 54.1 percent as a team while the Bulldogs managed just 12 field goals and 21.8 percent shooting.
On Jan. 5, the Lady Bears beat Creighton 70-60 behind 25 points from Roberson, who shot 7-for-9 from the field on the way to MVC Player of the Week honors. The Lady Bears trailed by three points early in the second half after letting a five-point halftime lead slip away, and out-rebounded the Bluejays 40-28.
Series History
Missouri State is 36-33 all-time against Drake with an 11-19 record in Des Moines. The Lady Bears have won the last five in the series and have scored at least 78 points in each of the last six contests. Prior to MSU's winning streak, Drake won seven in a row from 2007-10.
Missouri State is 30-16 all-time against Creighton, including an 8-12 mark in Omaha. The teams have split the last 10 meetings, with Missouri State winning four of the last five.
Scouting Drake
Drake is 11-9 overall and 5-4 in the MVC with a 7-2 record at the Knapp Center.
Senior Rachael Hackbarth leads the MVC in bothing scoring (19.3) and rebounding (10.8), while Kyndal Clark (9.9) and Brittnye McSparron (9.6) nearly average double figures. Clark, a freshman from Webb City, shoots 42.5 percent on three-pointers.
As a team, Drake averages 60.7 points, allows 60.9, and shoots 40.9 percent overall, 32.9 on threes and 70.3 percent from the free throw line.
Scouting Creighton
Creighton was 11-9 overall and 5-4 in the MVC entering its Thursday home game with Wichita State.
The Bluejays average 60.5 points per game and allow 58.9 while shooting 39.6 percent overall, 32.6 percent on three-pointers and 69.6 percent from the foul line.
Preseason all-MVC pick Carli Tritz leads the Bluejays in scoring (14.2) and assists (3.2) per game, and Sarah Nelson averages 12.4 long with 7.3 rebounds.
