La Tanya Davis was a four-year starter for the basketball Lady Bears of coach Cheryl Burnett from 1992 to 1996 and Davis led Missouri State in scoring, field goals and rebounds once each, blocked shots twice and field goal percentage three seasons. Davis was named to Missouri Valley Conference all-league honors twice and garnered one selection to the league's all-defensive unit. She was picked for the 1993 Pan American Games and received the coveted Lady Bear Prestige Award in 1995 and 1996. Davis scored 1,344 points with 648 rebounds in 125 Lady Bears' games. More than a decade after the end of her career, her numbers rank fifth in games played, 12th in points, 12th in rebounds, ninth in field goals, 10th in field goal percentage, sixth in steals and 12th in blocked shots. The four teams on which Davis played had a combined 93-33 record and went to four straight NCAA tournaments, reaching the Sweet 16 in 1993 and the second round in 1994 and 1995.
