
Missouri State's Gulley Named MVC Newcomer of the Week

ST. LOUIS -- Missouri State junior Jarmar Gulley (G/F, Beaumont, Texas) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Monday (Dec. 12), for his outstanding efforts in two contests last week.
Gulley, a transfer from Highland (Kan.) Community College, notched a career-high 19 points against Oklahoma State on Wednesday, going 7-for-9 from the field against the Cowboys on national TV with 4 rebounds and a pair of key three-pointers. He also helped the Bears to victory on Saturday with another set of three-pointers against UALR with 8 points and 6 rebounds.
Gulley capped a solid two-game swing averaging 13.5 points. 5.0 rebounds and going 9-for-17 (.529) from the field.
For the season, he is averaging 11.1 points and 6.4 rebounds for MSU, which improved to 5-3 overall with its win at Arkansas-Little Rock on Saturday.
He is the third MSU player to earn MVC Newcomer of the Week honors this season, joining Anthony Downing (Jr., G, Atchison, Kan.) on Nov. 14 and Michael Bizoukas (Sr., G, Munster, Ind.) on Nov. 21.
The Bears will play two home games in a three-day span, starting Saturday at 2:05 when they welcome the Kennesaw State Owls to JQH Arena. On Dec. 19, Coach Paul Lusk's club will host Texas A&M Corpus-Christi and 7:05 p.m. Both games are part of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic, which continues Dec. 22-23 at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
