Missouri State men's basketball sophomore center Will Creekmore (Tulsa, Okla.) was named to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Bench Team, the league announced early Wednesday.
Creekmore, who transferred to Missouri State from Boston University midway through his freshman season, has collected seven starts in 2008-09, and has averaged 8.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. He also averages 2.0 offensive rebounds per game and has made 12 three-pointers this season, including a game-tying buzzer-beater against Illinois State at JQH Arena on December 28.
He posted a career-best 19 points and 11 rebounds in the Illinois State game before snagging 13 rebounds at Southern Illinois on January 29. He also had a big day against Bradley on January 3 with 17 points and eight rebounds. The Edison High School product was named Missouri State Coors Player of the Week for the week of December 21 and has led Missouri State in scoring six times and in rebounding six times this year.
Creekmore is the 11th MSU player to be named to the MVC's All-Bench Team. The Bears have been represented on the team the last five seasons, including Chris Cooks in 2007-08.
Other players named to the 2008-09 squad were Justin Bocot (Southern Illinois), Travis Brown (UNI), Lucas O'Rear (UNI), Brandon Sampay (Illinois State), Kenton Walker (Creighton), and Antoine Young (Creighton).
The conference also released its 2009 Most-Improved Team on Wednesday, however no Missouri State players were selected.
