Missouri State women’s basketball assistant coach Kristy Guffey has resigned her post with the Lady Bears in order to accept a position on the women’s basketball staff at Wichita State University. Guffey, who joined head coach Nyla Milleson’s staff last April, will serve as an assistant coach for new Shocker mentor Jody Adams.
In her lone season with Missouri State, Guffey served as recruiting coordinator and worked with the Lady Bear guards. She came to Missouri State after guiding the Fort Scott Community College women’s program for three years, during which time she compiled a 47-47 record as head coach. In 2006-07, Guffey led Fort Scott to its best-ever single-season mark, as the Lady Greyhounds went 22-10 and finished third in the Jayhawk Conference. Eight of Guffey’s former Fort Scott players went on to play at the Division I level.
Milleson, who guided the Lady Bears to an 11-19 mark and a fifth-place Missouri Valley Conference finish in her first season at the helm, will begin a search immediately to fill the vacancy.
