Marjorie DeMarino was a standout performer for the field hockey Bears of coach Rhonda Ridinger in 1986 and 1987 as SMS was 7-9-3 on the field in 1986 but rebounded sharply to post an 18-4 record the following season. DeMarino was named to the all-Midwest Region team in 1987 and she was a two-time selection to the all-tournament team at the Midwest Independents Tournament in which that event was the Bears’ only league affiliation. DeMarino was named the SMS Outstanding Female Athlete for the 1987-88 school year.
