Marilyn Moore came to SMS from Lebanon High School in 1958 and four years later she had competed in every sport available at that time representing SMS.  Moore played on the volleyball, basketball, softball, field hockey, track, swimming and tennis teams as the Bears competed in events called sports days against other Missouri colleges. During the years Moore went to school at SMS, women’s athletics were not yet organized under the AIAW.  Moore later taught physical education at Hillcrest High School and was a nationally-recognized volleyball and basketball official.  She completed her master’s degree in 1967 from Colorado and was named the State Physical Education Teacher of the Year in 1986.
