Athletic Training Student Selected to Attend National Leadership Program

Missouri State athletic training student Sam Wilkins was recently selected by the Missouri Athletic Trainers Association (MoATA) as one of two Missouri representatives to attend the National Athletic Trainers Association Leadership program in Washington, D.C., February 21-23.

Wilkins, from Peculiar, Mo., along with Truman State student Joshua Miley, will participate in interactive sessions at the program to develop leadership skills and help prepare them for future participation in NATA's StarTRACK program. The event will be held in conjunction with the 2009 Hill Day Campaign and Athletic Training Educator's Conference.

The program, enttitled iLead! -- Lead, Engage, Activate, Develop -- is limited to 150 students nationally. Attendees were selected from applicants currently enrolled in approved athletic training curriculum programs at various colleges and universities around the state.

MoATA will sponsor the trip for Wilkins and Miley, while fellow Missouri State student Emily Bradshaw (St. Louis, Mo.) will also be attending the conference.
