Tina Robbins was a four-year basketball standout and three-year starter for the Lady Bears of coach Cheryl Burnett from 1990 to 1994. A native of Duenweg, Mo., and a product of Joplin High, Robbins was a  member of the first four SMS NCAA tournament teams. Robbins netted NCAA Midwest Regional MVP honors as a sophomore in 1992 as she led SMS to regional tourney wins over UCLA and Ole Miss to take SMS to Los Angeles and its first Final Four appearance. The Lady Bears reached the second round of the NCAA tourney in 1991 when Robbins was a freshman, got to the regional semifinals in her junior year of 1993, and got back to the NCAA second round when she was a senior in 1994. The Lady Bears in those four years were a combined 62-6 in conference play and 104-23 overall. SMS won four straight league titles and four straight conference tourney titles. Robbins capped her SMS career in 1994 when she earned Street and Smith’s and Kodak All-America honorable mention and was named to the Missouri Valley Conference all-league first team. As a junior, Robbins set an SMS single season record for three throw percentage (.903), and, as a senior, established season records for assists (213) and steals (108) which still stand. Robbins is seventh in SMS career games played (122) and still holds career records for assists (657) and steals (316) and she finished with 1,098 points. After graduating from SMS, Robbins began a career as a high school basketball coach.
