Terry Kasper is a native of St. Charles who played football and baseball four seasons each and was a varsity letterman for the Bears each of his last three years in both sports.  Playing three seasons for Coach Don Cross and his senior year for Coach Rick Johanningmeier in football, Kasper operated at linebacker and strong safety for the grid Bears.  Kasper returned a pass interception runback for a touchdown at Northwest Missouri to help the Bears to a win in 1974 and he had a 32-yard interception runback for a touchdown in a victory over Pittsburg State in 1975.  He wound up third on the Bears in total tackles with 67 while leading the team in interceptions as a sophomore to earn all-MIAA honorable mention.  Kasper led the Bears in interceptions again in 1975 and was fourth in total tackles to gain all-MIAA second team honors, and he finished his grid career with 192 total tackles, five fumble recoveries and 10 pass interception in 31 SMS varsity games.  On the baseball diamond, Kasper saw action as a switch-hitting infielder-outfielder for the Bears of Coach Bill Rowe, and was a three-year SMS starter.  Kasper hit .274 as a sophomore outfielder, hiked that figure to .305 as a junior third baseman to earn all-MIAA selection, and returned to the outfield and repeated his all-conference honors as a senior in 1977 when he batted .356.  Kasper helped the Bears into an NCAA Division II regional tournament in 1977, their first NCAA appearance in seven seasons.  He concluded his SMS diamond career with a .313 batting average, 113 hits and 91 runs scored over a 109-game Bear diamond career.
