MARION BERRY
Football, Basketball and Track, 1933-37

Yet another track standout of the late 1930’s era was Marion Berry, a product of Lamar High School.  After collecting 10 letters in high school as a participant in football, basketball and track, Berry won three letters in football for SMS and two each in basketball and track.  He was a halfback for SMS in football, played guard in basketball, and competed in the pole vault in track.  His best sport was football and he served as captain of the 1935 SMS team.  His pass to Morris Stephens provided the only SMS touchdown in a 7-2 win over Rolla and his 55-yard touchdown run sparked SMS to a 14-0 win over Central College that year.
