Diane Cline was another key ingredient on coach Kay Hunter’s softball teams from 1978 to 1980. SMS was 31-7 in the 1978 season with state and regional championships and a seventh-place finish at the national level. In the 1979 season, SMS rolled up a 27-10 record and won a state title, and the 1980 team was 26-12 with a regional crown and a ninth-place finish in the AIAW national meet.
