SPRINGFIELD –
Ronald Boyce, Missouri State's head track and field coach since 1996, will be ending his run with the Bears to pursue other career opportunities, Boyce announced Friday (June 8).

Boyce recently completed his 22
nd season on the Springfield campus.

"I sincerely thank the university and the community for all their support during my years of service," said Boyce. "I will always cherish my time here and look forward to new and exciting career challenges ahead."

The Bears' director of track and field and cross country earned Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year honors nine times in his tenure, including three times in the outdoor season and six times indoors.

"Our track and field program has experienced great success under Ron's leadership, and we wish him well," said MSU Director of Athletics
Kyle Moats.

Under Boyce's direction, Missouri State racked up 24 indoor and 30 outdoor NCAA Division I national qualifiers. He also coached Missouri State to nine MVC women's team championships, most recently with the 2012 indoor title. Since 2013, the Bears have finished as high as fourth place three times at the MVC indoor and outdoor meets.

He also served as head coach of Missouri State's men's track and field team from the 1999-2000 season until the program was discontinued in 2006. Likewise, he was Missouri State's cross country coach for the 1996 season and earned MVC Coach of the Year while leading the MSU women to a conference title that season.

The native of Barbados has also coached six Olympians and earned a number of regional coaching laurels.

Boyce will remain in his current role until June 30.
Jordan Fife, Missouri State's head cross country coach, will assume interim head coaching duties until a new track and field coach is named.
