Cook Highlights

SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State head coach Dana Ford announced Tuesday the receipt of a National Letter of Intent from 6-foot-5, 190-pound guard Keandre Cook of Odessa (Texas) College.

Cook is originally from Baltimore, Md., where he attended Edmondson-Westside High. He currently ranks as the No. 76 player on the JucoRecruiting.com website for 2018 players.

"We are extremely excited about signing Keandre," said Bears' assistant coach Jase Herl who helped recruit Cook to Missouri State. "He adds versatility at the guard spot on both ends of the floor we must have to compete at the top of this league. On top of being a well-rounded player, he is a high character young man, and we are excited to have him as part of this family and represent the university."

Cook was second on coach Tra Arnold's squad this season with 15.0 points per game. He also averaged 5.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists while converting 78.9 percent of his team-high 147 free throw attempts. He also knocked down 33 3-pointers for a 28-5 Wranglers team as a sophomore.

During his freshman campaign at Odessa, Cook played in 31 games and averaged 4.7 points and 1.8 rebounds off the bench while converting 75 percent of his free throw attempts and 52 percent of his field goals.

He is Ford's third commitment for the 2018-19 season.

Cook joins previous Bears' commitments Darnell Butler (G, 6-4, 180, Lafayette, Ind., McCutcheon High, Seminole (Okla.) State College and Kabir Mohammed (F, 6-5, 225, Jr., Lagos, Nigeria, Fort Washington (Md.) National Christian Academy, San Jacinto College) in Ford's inaugural recruiting class.
