NABC Release

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced today (March 13) the 2017-18 NABC Division I All-District teams with Missouri State senior Alize Johnson (F, Williamsport, Pa.) earning first-team honors from District 16.

Johnson was an All-Missouri Valley Conference first-team selection this season after averaging 15.0 points, 11.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists for the Bears – all team highs. He led the MVC in rebounding for the second straight season and currently ranks fourth nationally in rebounds per game, third in defensive rebounds per game (8.5), fourth in total rebounds (384) and seventh in double-doubles (20).

He completed his 66-game career with 982 points and 735 rebounds in just two seasons, which rank 29th and sixth, respectively, on MSU's career lists in those categories.

Johnson was a five-time MVC Player of the Week during his tenure in Springfield. He also earned MVC Newcomer of the Week laurels six times in 2016-17 en route to being named MVC Newcomer of the Year last season.

Joining Johnson on the NABC District 16 squad were: Loyola's Clayton Custer, SIU's Armon Fletcher, Drake's Reed Timmer, and Milik Yarbrough of Illinois State.

This is Johnson's second straight NABC All-District first-team honor, a distinction only Kyle Weems (2011-12) has matched for the Bears.

The all-district teams were selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC in NCAA Division I.
