MSU Men’s Soccer Sets up Strong 2018 Roster

SPRINGFIELD - Missouri State men's soccer head coach Jon Leamy announced the addition of nine players who will be joining the team for the 2018 season this week.
 
"The 2018 class we feel is an important class and a strong class for the soccer program," associate head coach Michael Seabolt said. "We are excited that we've had five new additions in January that can train and integrate themselves into the team. Then we have four other exciting additions that will join us in August to make up the complete class."
 
Aadne Bruseth (Fr. • F • Batnfjordsøra, Norway • Atlanten Videregående)
Bruseth has competed four years at Kristiansund BK in Norway. Playing on the second team, Bruseth has been a top scorer the last two seasons. He helped move the second team up from forth division to third.
 
"Aadne is an attacking player, either a forward or a winger, from Norway that has a great goal scoring history in his youth career and we are excited about him joining the program," Seabolt said.

Arne Einarsen (Fr. • MF • Arendal, Norway • Stavanger Wang Toppidertt)
During the 2017 soccer season at Wang Toppidrett, Einareson played every game as the junior captain of his team. He added two goals and three assists.
 
"Einarson is a talented and exciting midfielder from Norway that can make an immediate impact as a defensive midfielder for us and help set the tempo for our team," Seabolt said.
 
Jack Denton (Fr. • MF • Iver, Bucks, U.K. • Reading F.C)
Denton earned a two year scholarship to play at Reading F.C. While playing at Reading F.C. Denton led the team to the semifinals of the premier league tournament in 2015. Helped Reading R.C. earn a third place finish in the U18 premier league south table.  
 
"Jack is a strong midfielder," Seabolt said. "He is a versatile player that can play in a defensive or an attacking role. We believe he can be an important player in our midfield, strengthening an area that we have identified for improvement. We really like Jack's work ethic and technical qualities. Jack is also an outstanding student and leader off the field. "

Mikey Graham (Fr. • MF • Auckland, New Zealand • Liston College)
Graham joins the Bears during the spring. He started in midfield for Oratia United football club. Last season he was the top scorer for Oratia men's reserves. He scored 11 goals in 17 games. The team earned third place in the U19 National Tournament.
 
"Mikey is an midfield player," Seabolt said "He mostly plays as a number 10 and he has the ability to set up and score goals."
 
Jack Griffiths (Fr. • MF/D • West Sussex, U.K. • Tanbridge House School)
Joining the Bears this spring, Griffiths played four years with Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. in East Sussex, England. He played left back and left midfield during his time with the football club. During Griffiths' last year at BHAFC the team finished second in the National Football Youth League U19 and second in the Youth Cup finals. Griffiths was voted BHAFC Player of the Year, with 11 league shutouts, all while being BHAFC captain.
 
"Jack is a left footed player that can provide depth to the program at left midfield or left back and we are excited about him joining the team," Seabolt said.
 
Ian Hansen (So. • MF/D • Galena, Mo. • Kickapoo High School)
Hansen comes to the Bears this spring after a season at Missouri S&T. Hansen earned first team All-Conference and conference offensive MVP while playing at Kickapoo High School in Springfield, Mo. Hansen was the Kickapoo's leading goal scorer, offensive MVP and was first team All-District. 
 
"Ian is a quick and dynamic dribbler and can play anywhere on the wing," Seabolt said. "I had the good fortune of coaching him for a number of years at Sporting Springfield here in town and he is a top local talent that will immediately impact the Bears."
 
Nicolo Mulatero (Fr. • F • Givoletto, Italy • Liceo Scientifico Lagrange)
Mulatero played for Torino, Bra, Pinerolo, and Campobasso at the youth and senior levels. During his last season, Mulatero played in 19 games scoring three goals. He spent one season at University in his native Italy before coming to the Bears.
 
"Nicolo is a top talent from Italy that comes via our connections with alums and coaches from Rockhurst University in Kansas City," Seabolt said. "We are very excited about him joining the program and think he can make an immediate impact."
 
Hugo Jönsson (Fr. • MF • Loddekopinge, Sweden • Lund Polhemskolan)
Jönsson comes to the Bears after playing with Lödde IF soccer club since 2012. Starting in 2015 Jönsson has been on the A-Team for Lödde IF playing in the midfield. Jönsson was selected and trained by Helsingborg's IF Academy's U15, U17 and U19 teams. Jönsson comes to the Bears from outside Malmo, Sweden where former MSU men's soccer coach and football kicker Jan Stahle is from.
 
"Hugo is from near Malmo in Sweden," Seabolt said. "We are very excited, because this ties in with our legacy with Jan Stahle who is also from Malmo and we are excited to carry that legacy forward. Hugo is an outstanding midfielder who we feel will add hardworking and technical play to our team in 2018."
 
Dawson Lee (Fr. • F • Belton, Mo. • Belton High School)
Lee joins the Bears this spring after, playing three years at Belton High School before moving to Sporting Kansas City Academy his senior year. Belton earned conference championships all three seasons Lee played. During his junior season at Belton Lee earned region and conference Offensive Player of the Year and conference overall player of the year for his efforts on the field. 
 
"Dawson is a top attacking talent that can also play anywhere in a wide position in the midfield or the back," Seabolt said. "He has shown a good ability to score goals and comes from the highly regarded Sporting Kansas City Academy."
 
Zac Newdick (Fr. • MF • Rotorua, New Zealand • St. Paul's Collegiate)
Newdick joined the Bears in January and will train with the team this spring. He has been playing Hamilton Wanders Soccer Club for the last four years. Newdick also played soccer in 2015 and 2016 at his high school St. Paul's Collegiate.
 
"Zac is a technical and dynamic midfielder that we feel can make an early impact on the 2018 season," Seabolt said.
 
Nikolaus Opel (Fr. • GK • Gypsum, Co. • Eagle Valley High School)
Opel comes to the Bears through the Colorado Rush Development Academy. The goalkeeper started around 70 percent of his games at the Colorado Rush. Before the academy Opel played and started in goal at Eagle Valley high school.
 
"Nikolaus Opel is a goal keeper from Colorado," Seabolt said. "He comes from connections established earlier in my career when I coached with the Colorado Rapids. He is a modern goal keeper. He has very good technical skills with his feet and with his hands and we are excited about him joining our program."
