ST. LOUIS – Missouri State forward
Reggie Scurry (Jr., Atlanta, Ga.) was named to the Missouri Valley Conference's 2018 All-Bench Team, the league office announced Wednesday.
Scurry averaged 8.9 points and 4.2 rebounds in just 17.1 minutes per game as Missouri State's top reserve this season. He converted 50.3 percent of his field goal attempts and posted four straight double-figure scoring games from Nov. 24 to Dec. 4, including road wins over South Dakota State and North Dakota State. Scurry also scored a season-high 18 points with seven rebounds in the Bears' win over league champion Loyola on Dec. 22
He missed the last 10 games of the regular season from injuries sustained during a cryotherapy treatment on Jan. 23.
Scurry joins Valparaiso's Markus Golder, UNI's Wyatt Lohaus, Loyola's Lucas Williamson, Drake's Graham Woodward and Southern Illinois' Tyler Smithpeters on this year's team. Smithpeters was named MVC Sixth Man of the Year.
Missouri State has had an MVC All-Bench Team Selection each of the past two seasons with
Jarred Dixon earning the honor last season. Nominees for the All-Bench Team must have started less than 25 percent of his team's games.
The Bears open the 2018 MVC Men's Basketball Tournament on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. against Valparaiso at Scottrade Center in St. Louis.
