SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State head coach Mallory Weber added one player for the 2018-19 season Thursday, (Nov. 9) as Anna Alons, the No. 1 tennis player in Iowa, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Bears next fall.

"I'm very excited to welcome Anna to our Bear Family," Weber said. "She is the type of player who will have an immediate positive impact on this team. She has a very well rounded game that she can execute at a high level. Her success, in both singles and doubles, at the junior level has been impressive and I look forward to getting her on campus next fall."

Alons, a TennisRecruiting.net four-star recruit, brings extensive playing experience to the program. She collected the doubles title at the 18s and 16s Summer Sweet 16 events the past two years and served as a co-chair of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Missouri Valley Junior Culture & Sportsmanship Council as a sophomore.

The Salix, Iowa native, currently ranks sixth in the 18-under division of the USTA Missouri Valley Junior Section, which includes the top players from Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, as well as southern and western Illinois. She also ranks 195th in the USTA National Girls 18s and 166th nationally among all senior girls rankings.
