St. LOUIS -- Missouri State's Liza Fruendt was chosen as the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week in women's basketball Monday, marking her second win in the last three weeks of the award, joining the final week of the 2016-17 season.

Fruendt averaged 17 points and 5.3 rebounds during the season's opening week, including a 29-point outburst against 23rd-ranked Missouri on Sunday afternoon. The senior guard buried five 3-pointers and shot 10-for-24 from the field against the Tigers, adding three rebounds, an assist and a steal. Fruendt has now scored 75 total points in her last two games against top-25 teams.

In Monday's opener at Ball State, the Batavia, Ill., native finished with team highs of 14 points and seven rebounds against a perennial postseason team. She also shared high scoring honors in Wednesday's victory against Central Missouri, posting eight points, six boards and four assists.

The Lady Bears head to the Bahamas over Thanksgiving weekend, opening Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. against eighth-ranked Baylor. MSU will then play either Georgia Tech or Penn on Nov. 24 or 25 in Bimini.
